CDC’s 2003 Cancer Conference NewsSave the Date The CDC’s 2003 Cancer Conference, Comprehensive Approaches to Cancer Control - The Public Health Role, will be held September 15-18, 2003 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. Conference Overview Held biannually since 1999, the CDC’s 2003 Cancer Conference will be the third interdisciplinary conference focused on strengthening the public health’s role in developing comprehensive approaches to cancer control. The conference sessions will cover a range of topics including disease tracking registries, prevention, early detection, treatment, rehabilitation, quality of life, and survivorship. The CDC’s 2003 Cancer Conference will bring together a wide constituency of local, state, territorial, tribal, federal, national, and community-based cancer prevention and control programs. Plenary sessions, concurrent topic discussions, short courses, abstract and poster presentations, exhibits, and computer demonstrations will provide opportunities for skill-building, information sharing, networking, and building new partnerships. Launch of Website The CDC’s 2003 Cancer Conference Web site is now live and available for viewing by you and your colleagues throughout the country by visiting http://www.cancerconference.net. The Web site can also be accessed from the CDC’s Division of Cancer Prevention and Control Web site at http://www.cdc.gov/cancer/conference/index.htm. The CDC’s 2003 Cancer Conference Web site will include general information about the conference and its objectives, the abstract submission process, topic sessions and speakers, short courses, online conference registration, travel arrangements, and much more! Visit the site often to look for updates and new information that will be added as the date of the conference draws closer. To receive periodic updates by e-mail, join the mailing list by entering your e-mail address on the Web site. Call for Abstracts The conference Web site links directly to the Online Abstract Submission Web Site http://cdc.confex.com/cdc/cancer03/ where you and your colleagues may submit abstracts quickly and efficiently. The deadline for submitting conference abstracts is February 17, 2003, so please visit the Web site soon and encourage your colleagues to do so as well. The CDC’s 2003 Cancer Conference is a great opportunity to present to over 1,000 attendees. Once the conference agenda is finalized, this Web site will provide you with a Personal Scheduler that will allow you to review the agenda, choose the sessions you'd most like to attend, and create a personalized calendar of events for the conference.
